Burning Sensation while Urinating

A burning sensation while urinating is a symptom of dysuria, which is a medical term for painful or burning urination. It can occur due to a number of possible reasons, including:
    • Urinary tract infection (UTI)

A common cause of dysuria, UTIs are infections that can affect any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

    • Kidney stones
A common symptom of kidney stones is a burning sensation while urinating. Other symptoms include blood in the urine, vomiting, and back or side pain.
    • Dehydration
When you don’t drink enough fluids, your urine becomes more concentrated, which can lead to irritation and a burning sensation.
    • Vaginal infection
Signs of a vaginal infection include a burning sensation while urinating, an abnormal odor, an increase in discharge, or itching around the vaginal opening.
    • Inflammation
Inflammation of the urethra or bladder can cause a burning sensation while urinating.
